UPDATE: BIVALENT COVID-19 VACCINE BOOSTER

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE NEW VACCINE?

  • NEW (as of April 18, 2023): Individuals 65 years of age and older who have received a single dose of a bivalent vaccine may receive one additional bivalent dose at least four months following their initial bivalent dose.
  • NEW (as of April 18, 2023): Most individuals with certain kinds of immunocompromise who have received a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine may receive a single additional dose of a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine at least 2 months following a dose of a bivalent COVID-19 vaccine, and additional doses may be administered at the discretion of, and at intervals determined by, their healthcare provider. However, for immunocompromised individuals 6 months through 4 years of age, eligibility for additional doses will depend on the vaccine previously received.

 

  • Individuals 12 years of age and older are eligible for a single booster dose of the BIVALENT Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Individuals between 5-11 years of age are eligible for a single booster dose of the BIVALENT Pediatric Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Individuals between 6 months-5 years of age are eligible for a single booster dose of the BIVALENT Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine if it has been at least two months since they have received 2 or 3 doses of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine previously.
