We want to keep you informed about upcoming changes regarding compounded GLP-1 medications. The FDA has announced that it will not permit new batches of compounded tirzepatide to be produced after March 19, 2025, nor new batches of compounded semaglutide to be produced after May 22, 2025.
For tirzepatide, this means that new batches of these medications will not be able to compounded after March 19. However, we will be able to continue dispensing any tirzepatide we have in stock which was compounded prior to this date.
The compounded tirzepatide we currently have has expiration dates that extend one year from date of compounding (if kept in fridge). If your provider approves a multi-month supply or a prescription with refills, you will be covered up to a year or if you get it month-to-month, we will provide it until we are out of stock.
For semaglutide, new batches of the compounded medication may no longer be compounded after May 22. However, we will be able to continue dispensing any semaglutide we have in stock which was compounded prior to this date.
The compounded semaglutide we currently have has expiration dates that extend one year from date of compounding (if kept in fridge). If your provider approves a multi-month supply or a prescription with refills, you will be covered up to a year or if you get it month-to-month, we will provide it until we are out of stock.
As with any medical or health-related matter, we recommend seeking the guidance and feedback of your healthcare provider.

What should I do next to be prepared?
✅ You can refill a prescription we have on file for that still has refills on it (if unsure how many refills you have left on a prescription, please email clinic@skippackpharmacy.com with your name & date of birth) and a member of our team will email you back.
✅ We recommend speaking with your provider about obtaining a multi-month prescription or a prescription with refills, as this is the safest way to ensure continued access.
Your provider can still send in RXs for tirzepatide & semaglutide how they have been electronically (Skippack Pharmacy in “Schwenksville” in their system, via fax: 267-436-0913, via email: clinic@skippackpharmacy.com, or by calling us: 610-584-7937). We know there might be misinformation out their for patients/providers and thus if you/your provider have any questions, reach out to us directly or if you need us to call them, please let us know & we’d be happy to do so.
Will Skippack Pharmacy Continue to Provide Compounded GLP-1s?
✅ We will dispense compounded GLP-1 medications in full compliance with regulations until we are out of stock of the medications after their respective cut-off dates.
✅ We are working to support patients through this transition and will communicate any regulatory updates that impact availability.
✅ We are proactively working with our compounding partners on alternate formulations of GLP-1 medications that will still align with FDA guidance while maintaining quality and effectiveness you expect. We will keep you informed if/when that time arises but want to let you know we are already thinking ahead.
