The medical residents were able to provide wound care to people outside the Mercy House and other adequate treatment. A month ago American Pharmacists Association chapter president-elect, Christ, from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy had reached out to see if Skippack Pharmacy could help and without hesitation we said, yes.For the first time, through a collaboration, there was a vaccine station at this health promoter event helping those who may have not received these services otherwise. From filling healthcare gaps to navigating complex medication landscapes, pharmacists have answered the call to provide care for you and your families; however, have not been recognized as “providers” by your insurance company.While pharmacists don’t need the recognition, having provider status with the state Medicaid plan will now allow pharmacies to enable pharmacists to engage further with patients, identify gaps in care, provide clinical services, and perform at the top of their license while allowing pharmacies to keep their doors open.Through advocacy, today, we had a meeting in Harrisburg with leaders to discuss provider status, collaborate and work on pressing healthcare issues which our Commonwealth faces. Thank you, Sally Kozak, Terri Cathers, Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, and team from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services & Victoria Elliott & team from Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association / PPCN and many others who worked tirelessly to make this happen.
