Dear Patients,
We want to keep you informed about upcoming changes regarding compounded GLP-1 medications. The FDA has announced that it will begin enforcement actions against compounded tirzepatide after March 19, 2025, and compounded semaglutide after May 22, 2025.
This means that 503B outsourcing facilities—which supply compounded medications to pharmacies like ours—will no longer be able to produce new batches of these medications after those dates.
Bearing no changes, no new compounds of semaglutide or tirzepatide in the formulation you have been receiving can be compounded after the cutoff dates; however, the compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide we currently have has expiration dates that extend through the end of the year. If your provider approves a multi-month supply, you will be covered at least until the end of the year.
We are closely monitoring these changes and will update our patients as new information becomes available.
Transition Plan for Patients Currently Using Compounded GLP-1s
✅ We strongly recommend speaking with your provider about obtaining a multi-month prescription or a prescription with refills if they allow it, as this is the safest way to ensure continued access
✅ If affordability is a barrier to prevent you from getting a multi-month supply, we are working on a solution to help you
Will Skippack Pharmacy Continue to Provide Compounded GLP-1s?
✅ We will continue to dispense compounded GLP-1 medications in full compliance with federal and state regulations until enforcement actions take effect
✅ We are working to support patients through this transition and will communicate any regulatory updates that impact availability.
We understand how vital this medication has been for so many of our patients, and we want you to know that we are advocating as hard as we can to ensure continued access.
Regulations and guidance continue to evolve, but we are staying ahead of these changes and doing everything possible to navigate them while complying with all necessary laws. We are advocating for patient access to the treatments they need while ensuring full compliance with all laws and regulations.
